This half term we have learn about the 1960’s. We completed a class time-line and the children were able to ask some grandparents about what life was like in the 1960’s. The children enjoyed looking at and comparing old photographs! The children learnt about Neil Armstrong and the moon landings. They also enjoyed lots of craft activities, including creating Andy Warhol style art and making 1960’s clothes using’ Batik.’ The designs were really bright!

Tesco Farm to Fork
Farm to Fork!
Last week Year 1 visited Tesco to learn more about where their food comes from. They tasted different breads, cheese and fruit and even got to go behind the scenes of the shop into the warehouse!
The children had a wonderful day and were presented with a special goody bag to share with their family.
Donna and Lorraine, the Farm to Fork organisers, said what a lovely group of children our year 1s are and what a pleasure they were to have in the store.
We are looking forward to our next trip after Easter…
Tesco Farm to Fork visit Year 1
This term we will be exploring a new topic called ‘Around the World.’ We will be looking at the hot and cold parts of the world and finding out about animals that live there and any plants that grow. In History, we will be exploring James Cook and finding out about the countries that he visited. With the children we will decide on a hot country near the Equator that we want to find out about!
COMING SOON- In the second half of the term we will be looking at the 1960’s!
Local Area Topic
This term our topic is the ‘local area.’ The children will investigate different buildings in the local area, exploring their use and the materials they are made from. In Science, they will explore the seasons in our local area. As part of their work in Geography, the children will complete local fieldwork and make a variety of maps. There will be a History trip on the 3rd of October to Felbrigg Hall.
Heritage of Great Yarmouth
This half term we have Matthew Harrison coming back to work with us on a heritage film about Great Yarmouth. Each class will be working on a different part of Great Yarmouth, including the circus, fishing industry and Vauxhall bridge. Look out for an exciting video at the end of this term showing our work!
Time and Tide
This week classes have been visiting the Time and Tide Museum for a heritage/numeracy experience.
The children worked on activities linking number, shape and measure with facts about the Great Yarmouth fishing industry.
