Children with Special Educational Needs or a Disability (SEND) are supported in all areas of school life so that they have equal access to all of the curriculum and opportunities that the school provides and are included with their peer group wherever possible.

We have a teacher designated as the SEND Co-ordinator (Miss Holland) who can be contacted via the school office.

All teachers have expertise in differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of pupils with a range of difficulties. We employ Support Assistants where a specific need has been identified and we teach in a variety of teaching groups throughout the day that enables a personalised learning approach to be delivered.

All children identified with SEND have additional provision to their peers and this is detailed in an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). All children are monitored termly (or more frequently if necessary) to ensure that appropriate progress is being achieved.

For complex need, outside agencies such as a Speech and Language therapist may be consulted by the school for more detailed assessment or support for learning. Children may be recommended for a more detailed assessment of their need and as a result they may require an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
