Introduction & Term Dates
St George’s Primary and Nursery School is a thriving multi-cultural, co-educational community school for children aged 4-11 situated in the seaside town of Great Yarmouth. We offer school places from age 4 but also offer a Nursery Class to 3 & 4 year olds.
We believe in the education of the whole child through partnership with families and the wider community and see every child as an individual. Our warm, caring family atmosphere supports and celebrates our multi-cultural community and the individual’s achievement at all levels.
We aim to provide the best educational opportunities possible with a firm commitment to raising standards and creating interesting and enjoyable learning for all that will enable better life chances for all of the children in our care. Our latest OFSTED Inspection (June 2018) reported that we continue to uphold our consistent track record of being a GOOD school.
” St George’s Primary and Nursery School is an exciting, creative and innovative place where people work together to develop their love for lifelong learning.”
Mrs Sharron Mitchell, Acting Head Teacher
We provide a Covid Secure site and safe practice and follow all of the latest Government regulations for schools. At present we feel very confident that staff and children are safe on our site. We have extensive operational plans and risk assessments in place should anyone have Covid symptoms whilst on site to minimise the contact with others and contain the virus.
Learning at home – we are currently working on plans to enhance our learning from home offer should children be sent home to isolate.

Admission to the school
The school Governors adopt the Norfolk County Council Policy on first admission to school which is as follows:
We currently take 30 children (Published Admission Number) into our Reception Year.
Full details of our Admission to Reception, including criteria if we are oversubscribed are contained within our Admission Policy.
Under normal circumstances we provide two sessions in our Nursery 8.45-11.45am and 11.45-2.45pm and we have 26 places in each session for 3-4 year olds. We offer 15 hours FREE to all eligible children (and 30 hours FREE if you meet the Government criteria) and we also have reasonable rates for children requiring more than 15 hours that do not qualify for the extra free sessions (see link below to the Nursery Charging Policy). We are able to accommodate requests for flexible hours from 7.45am to 3.15pm and can provide all day care – enquire with the school office to discuss your requirements.
Whilst Coronavirus continues we are encouraging parents to take up a 2 and 1/2 day offer i.e. a Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning OR a Wednesday afternoon Thursday & Friday to try and separate the week as much as possible into two bubbles to try and ensure that any outbreak of Covid in Nursery has a minimal impact on the operation. The session times on a Wednesday are slightly different to allow cleaning in between the change over of children. If these arrangements are difficult please enquire at the school office for further details or to discuss your needs.
To apply for a place in Nursery contact the school directly on 01493 843476 or firstname.lastname@example.org Full details of our Admission to Nursery, including criteria if we are oversubscribed are contained within our Nursery Admission Policy.
