Helping your child to read

We hope that you all enjoyed finding out about the letter sounds your child has been learning at school.

On Friday we spoke to every parent about how you can use the provided letter sound cards we gave to your child.

After having 4 days to share in the learning experience with your child we would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have if you would like any further explanation.

Please remember that we require parents/carers to read with their child at home and to sign and/or comment in your child’s reading record book so that we know when to change the book. The minimum expectation is that you read to your child at least three times every week – we do monitor this very closely on a daily basis.

Look out for an upcoming event – parents/carers will be invited to find out about the Read,Write, Inc scheme that we use at St George’s and how you can be actively involved to support your child’s progress and attainment with this.
