Hello all! Hope you are all well and staying safe.
I thought I would do something slightly different with your spellings this week. I have created some sentences for you so you can see how the different homophones are used but I have made some punctuation mistakes, it’s your job to spot my mistakes.
Here are you new spellings to learn this week. Once again, you have some homophones/near homophones to learn.
Homophones/near homophones:
- heel
- heal
- he’ll
Common exception words:
- often
- strength
- caught
- grammar
- opposite
Find out the difference between the homophones, put each of the words into sentences. Your challenge this week is to include a fronted adverbial with a comma. Extra challenge: try to link your sentences together to create a paragraph rather than just individual sentences. You could even use the words to create the beginning of a story, obviously you would have sentences that also don’t contain the spellings too.
Take a look at this BBC Bitesize lesson about turns and angles: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zwy3trd. I feel that it does a good job at explaining what a right angle is. Complete the activities and see how many right angles you can find.
Don’t forget to also check out the assignments for both Maths and Spellings on EdShed.
