Welcome to Giraffes Class 20-21

We welcome Year 6 children to our new class.

Mr Hearn is Giraffes’ Class teacher.

Miss Meadows helps Giraffes class.

A few things to note:

  • Please ensure your child has a fresh water bottle each day. There will not be access to cups in school.
  • The only kit your child requires for PE is trainers and a waterproof.
  • PE is on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please note, PE will not take place on 8th September as it is the first day back.
  • Your child will be given a reading book to read at home. They should be completing daily reading and this needs to be recorded in their reading record. Only return the book back to school when your child has finished it. Reading records will be checked daily so please make sure they are brought into school.
  • We strongly advise against bringing anything else into school. Your child will be given their own stationery and all other things they require throughout the school day.
  • If you are unsure of anything, or have any questions, unfortunately you will not be able to speak to a member of staff when dropping off or picking up your child. In the first instance, a note should be written in their reading record. If this is not suitable, please call the school office and leave a message. Mr Hearn will get back to you in a timely manner, and if a follow up conversation is required, this will happen via telephone.

Thank you for your understanding during these current times. We really look forward to seeing you all back in school!

Tuesday 5th January

Today our work can be found on google classrooms.  You need to sign in to google in the top right hand corner of the page using your school email address which has been texted to your parents.

Once logged in you can either go through your email and click on the invite I sent you to access google classrooms or click on the 9 dots in a square in the top right corner and choose google classrooms from there.

You need to join me using the zoom link texted to your parents at 9:30 for the register and to discuss what we will be doing that day.  We will then discuss the times during the day we will be meeting again.

When joining zoom you will be put in a ‘waiting room’ until I let you join the meeting- please be patient!  You don’t need to download zoom to use.  Click on the link and then in little blue writing it will say ‘join with browser’, if you click on that you can join instead of downloading.

End of Autumn Term 2020

Well done for all your hard work his term Giraffes. I have been super impressed with your efforts and attitudes to learning, despite the difficult times we find ourselves in. You have made progress in your learning and you should all be proud!

Highlights of the term for me have to be your fantastic artwork including your pop art, how your writing has progressed and also your maths – we really have some budding mathematicians blooming!

Next term we continue with our concept of Health and alongside Wolves class, will be looking in detail about the different hospitals (historical to current) as well as how our body works.

Enjoy your Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.
