Following the Government announcement yesterday, all children will be invited back to school from Monday March 8th. Parents will receive a letter in the post this week with details of the return process and for the first week we will be staggering arrival and departure times onsite to help ensure a safe return. Please bear with us for this week. We will also require ALL ADULTS coming onto site to WEAR A MASK please to help protect each and everyone of us. We are really looking forward to seeing you all again.

Rainbow Superhero Day THIS THURSDAY
Put on your capes, masks and Superhero logos once more to celebrate the work of our NHS and everyone keeping our country going. We want you to celebrate yourselves as well, because parents have kept the learning going for your children as well – so you are Rainbow Superheroes too! Use your Facebook pages, Twitter and anything else to share our film and send a message of THANKS to someone on Thursday.
This THURSDAY 4th FEB RAINBOW SUPERHERO DAY
Children, staff & parents are encouraged to dress as a Superhero for the day to celebrate and say thank you to all the frontline critical workers including the nurses, doctors, carers, supermarket staff, teachers, post people, bin collectors and everyone else who is still working through this lockdown – YOU ARE OUR RAINBOW SUPERHEROES and we want to send you a message of “YOU’VE GOT THIS!”
We are making a film with messages and pictures of thanks with a Rainbow Superhero theme and want you all to join in with this and send us (email office@) your photos of yourselves dressed as Superheroes or your pictures and work or messages of thanks or the words of Rainbow Superhero or “You’ve Got This!” The film will go live after half term (more details to follow). Don’t worry if you don’t have a superhero costume at home make one….. here are some logos to use and masks and just get a brightly coloured towel for a cape and you’re good to go.
Latest Covid News
We are pleased to report that we continue to have NO Covid cases in the children or staff in our school. Parents should be aware however another local school does have cases in a Year 11 group and we do have positive cases amongst some of our parents and community and children related to these cases are self-isolating, but not positive themselves. There is no need for parents to be concerned about this as everyone is following the rules and children are safe to keep coming to St George’s at the moment and we do not need to send any classes home. If we get any positive cases for children or staff in our school we will notify you and give guidance of what to do to keep everyone safe.
School Gains National Award
We are very pleased to report that we have been recognised Nationally for our work with bringing the local heritage into our curriculum and learning.
We have been awarded Champion Heritage School status by Historic England, one of only 8 schools nationally to receive the recognition and we are the school representing the whole of the East of England.
We will feature in a Radio Norfolk Broadcast on Saturday 3rd October at 9am when our children will also talk about their learning experiences in school.
We also help other local schools in this work and often lead on collaborative working.
BREAKFAST & AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
At the moment we are unable to offer breakfast club and after school clubs. The reason for this is because these clubs would normally have a mixture of ages and children in them which would mix the class bubbles and therefore put everyone in danger. REMEMBER you should not be mixing the children out of school either and from Monday it is the law not to be in a group of more than 6 people indoors or outdoors!
Schools are not required to offer childcare beyond the school day but we choose to do this to support our parents who want to work.
We fully understand for working parents how difficult it is for you at the moment without these clubs if you do not have friends or family to provide the childcare for a longer day.
Please be assured we know you need this service to start again as soon as possible and we are working hard to try and find a solution for you as quickly as we can, but it will also depend on the level of Covid in the community too, as we will not resume this service if Covid starts to spike again as we will want to limit the amount of time that staff and children spend together.
Please try and make alternative arrangements for a few weeks and we will come back to you soon about this.

Thank you to all of the parents and family members who have helped us by being patient and supportive this week with our staggered return to school for the children. As you will have seen and experienced all of the children have been coming and going at different times of the day and it has been very complicated, but you all stuck with it and the result is that we have nearly every child back in school and it has been very calm and Covid safe and all of the children have really enjoyed their week – as have all of the staff. So again, THANK YOU!
Some of you have raised the issue about lunch being served quite early to the children and I just wanted to explain why this has been put in place. As you know we are keeping the children apart using a 1m distance, the hall will now only seat 60 children safely and with having to use the hall for PE, we can only now get through two sittings in a day and so the other 90 children have to eat in their classrooms. In order to be able to keep all of the class bubbles separate and clean all of the equipment extra time is needed, we are therefore having to start some lunches earlier and finish others later. We strongly believe that all children should have access to a hot meal and the children are ready to eat at any time, so it has not caused the children any problems.
The TRIM TRAIL (playground equipment) is currently CLOSED and is not being cleaned so this is not Covid safe so please keep off the equipment at all times please.
Please continue to come to school ON TIME and NOT EARLY as we need to continue to keep classes separate. Next week Years 6, 5, 4 & 3 start at 8.45am and finish at 2.30pm and Years 2, 1 & Reception start at 9am and finish at 2.45pm. If you have children across the school then they all come to school and get picked up together at the earlier times in both cases i.e. 8.45am and 2.30pm.
