20.7.20

Good morning everyone. Today is officially your  last day as a member of Chipmunk class!

It has been an interesting year at school and unfortunately we have missed many weeks of being at school and learning together. However, we did have the privilege of working with you and your parents for 7 months during your first year in full time education and you have all grown and learnt so much – we are very proud of each and every one of you.

As usual we would like you to work on one reading, one writing and one maths activity from your home learning packs. You can continue to do this on some or everyday during the Summer holidays if you would like to.

For our very last activity together I would like you to make a poster about your time in Chipmunk class. It would be great if it could have a picture of you on it and your name written in your very best writing. The rest is up to you! Maybe you could write about or draw who your friends are, what activities you like the best, what you have learnt this year or a funny memory. We would love to see them when you come back in Year 1.

I have been saving some of my favourite stories by one of my favourite authors to share with you today. They are all to do with mini beasts. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Daily challenge 19.7.20 – For our last challenge together I would like you to sing and dance along to the song below. It is to celebrate all the good times we have shared together in Chipmunk class 🙂

We will miss you all over the holidays but will see you all again at school when you come back into Year 1 in September. Thank you for being such a wonderful class. Stay safe and happy, love from Miss Holland, Mrs Risby, Miss Sault, Mrs Thornton and Miss Kerrison x

Monday 20th July

Good morning, Lions.

It’s the last day of Year 4. We have had a short year, not starting together until the end of September, and then with coronavirus causing us to go into lockdown, but I have enjoyed teaching you all and have missed you.

Over the holidays, my challenge to you is to keep practising the times tables so you become more accurate and quicker. This will help your maths in Year 5.

17.7.20

Good morning boys and girls, Mums, Dads and carers,

It is nearly the end of our year together in Reception. After today I will be posting one more time on Monday and then it is the Summer holidays!

As always work on a game or task from your home learning packs, one reading, one writing and one maths.

For our work on mini beasts today we are going to be thinking about caterpillars and butterflies. Did you know that caterpillars turn into butterflies? They go through a very clever change called metamorphosis (it is a very hard word to say). I have a video for you to watch about this.

I have an activity for you to do today on the life cycle of a butterfly. You will need to click on the link below and print out page 1. You then need to cut out the pictures and stick them in the correct places to make the life cycle of a butterfly. If you can not print it out you can always draw the pictures yourself.

Butterfly-Life-Cycle

Daily challenge 17.7.20 – Learn and sing a song the song below about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Transition: Day 5

Friday is here! You only have today and Monday left of your primary school lives!

It is important, as you get ready to move on, that you remember what superstars you are SO I want you to use this star, or draw your own, and put your name in the middle. Then, in each of the points of the star, I want you to write something about you that makes you special and the star that you are.

Here is your link for your daily lessons:

During the Shang Dynasty, art was used as a method of communication with the Gods. When we studied the Stone Age, we looked at how art was used as communication about the different animals in different locations to aid with hunting. I find it really interesting that two completely different cultures, thousands of miles apart both used art as a form of communication. During the Shang dynasty, they would use bone or bronze and produce intricate sculptures. These sculptures have had an impact on later Chinese art and there is still similarities that can be seen today.

A lot of Chinese artwork contains Chinese Calligraphy, this is the writing of Chinese characters (like letters or numbers) in an art form. These are often very detailed. Take a look at the numbers shown here: T2-G-114A–Numbers-0-10-in-Mandarin-Chinese-Flash-Cards-Straight-1, have a go at recreating them yourself.

A lot of Chinese artwork that is more modern than the Shang Dynasty contains animals and flowers. Take a look at these images: Art AnimalsFlowers art. Write some things that you like about them.

Have a go at creating your own piece of Chinese artwork. They would often use watercolour paints but you can use whatever you have at home. These blossom pictures might help you with drawing the flowers: T-T-17174-Chinese-Blossom-Tree-Display-Photos. Try to include some Chinese calligraphy in your images.

I have created a Maths quiz for you to have a go at using a variety of Maths skills. Remember to use your written methods before entering an answer.

Remember also to keep practising on EdShed and check back here later to see if I have noticed you logging in this week.
