This week, we had our Harvest Festival, where we read aloud the poem we wrote together. Kangaroos were all so brave and were very proud of themselves, as were the teachers! We looked at how the Stone Age developed and farming was introduced. We wrote a job description, calling for people to join our farms- they were very convincing! We have all really enjoyed this half term and can’t wait to see what the next half term brings!

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS): Support for Families with behavioural concerns.

For children with additional needs a new online service has gone live this week, developed by our health colleagues to support families waiting for specialist assessments. The Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) online course helps families to understand the messages their child is trying to communicate and offers some practical skills and strategies that can be used to help manage behaviours that challenge.

The PBS video sessions, normally available through face to face workshops for families of children awaiting assessments by specialist teams, have been produced during the Covid-19 outbreak to offer support to all families.

Parents can access any or all six video sessions at times convenient to them at https://www.justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/pbs.

This week, we’ve been learning about the Harvest festival and why we celebrate it, in preparation for next week. We all wrote our own acrostic poem about the Harvest Festival and a letter to a farmer, showing our appreciation and asking them a few questions about their job. In Maths, we have been looking at money and the value of coins. We even learnt about the different currencies from all over the world!

This week, Kangaroos have been busy learning all about parliament. We formed our own parties to run for election: the nice party, magic party, caring party and good party. We looked at what qualities would make a good leader and then Kangaroos had to persuade one another on who would be the best person to lead their party. At the end of the week, we ‘went’ to the House of Commons and had a debate, where children had to give reasons for and against having school open 6 days a week. We may have future ministers in the making!
