This week we have introduced our work around the theme of ‘Space’. The children are very excited about it 🙂
Some of the things we have been doing this week:
The children have made splatter paint star pictures. We have looked at star constellations and used a ruler on dot to dot formats to make our own constellation pictures of The Big Dipper and The Little dipper – the children have used their knowledge of letter sounds and what they look like to label their pictures. They have further developed their scissor skills to cut out a star shape and have written ‘Twinkle, twinkle little star’ on them.
In maths we have been working hard with counting and number recognition. We are also getting very good at understanding and solving addition and subtraction number sentences.
A highlight of the week was an experiment we carried out to make our very own rocket blast off! Please ask your child more about this.
